There used to be a photo booth in the Fred Meyer in Bellevue, now that it's gone, I wondered where I could find one again if I wanted to. I found this link today for a list of all photo booths. Why is it that when it's gone, you want it more than when it was there?

I just made these fish tacos tonight and they are definitly a 5-star meal. The creama is so delicious. We used the marlin from Jesper's trip in February. We have one more steak and will make this again tomorrow night too cook up the last of the defrosted marlin. I think fish tacos is the only way to enjoy marlin.

This weekend I grouted the front entryway in the house... FINALLY!
We grouted the tile in the sauna and jesper put in half the floor and now he's got the sauna heater IN the building and burning. No door yet, but it's beautiful! The sauna heater burns super clean since the fire inside gets so hot.

I did more yard work too and dropped another $50 on plants. Loew's has much better plants than Home Depot. I got a cute flowering tree and put it in front of the house. I am hoping the clematis I bought will climb up the back deck this summer. I weeded in between our rose hill and it's looking much better.

Three months left until our wedding day. When the candy comes I am going to assemble all the favors to get that out of the way. Jesper STILL needs to find us a DJ.

We have firewood for the sauna AND a log for a bench! Someone at work cut down 6 fir trees and we grabbed the small pieces plus a 5 foot log.
We were inspired by some natural log furniture pieces we saw at Eagle Harbor last weekend. I found a photo of a chair and I think we are going to try to replicate it. Now we just need some logs. Jesper will be in charge of the many sand papers required.

This weekend we are really going to make some pgress on the sauna. Tile and grout and finishing. And I need to plant the plants I bought a week ago too. Horray for weekends!

I got my new camera lense and it is so fabulous. Pow - and it's in focus.
I got the CANON EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens.

I also just got the purse I won on Ebay for my wedding day. It's really cool and was only $10.

6 weird things about me

Cathy tagged me - so here I am going along.

The rules are:
  1. Link to the person that tagged you.

  2. Post the rules on your blog.

  3. Share six weird things/habits/quirks about yourself.

  4. Tag six others. And let them know they’ve been tagged!

Here are 6 weird {things/habits/quirks} about me…
  1. Since I turned 30, I very often forget to zip up my fly.

  2. I knit A LOT. I have about 7 project in process.

  3. It's been over a year and I still haven't grouted the tile in the entryway even though I am fully capable to do it myself.

  4. I often think of a bathroom stall study when I use a public restroom. I resist the urge to use stall 1 & 2.

  5. Sometimes sailing is like an adrenaline sport for me. Like tieing up the boat in the locks. Or when we are sailing normal and Jesper decides to take a nap.

  6. I CAN'T STAND bananas, the smell is like a fart to me, I have a hard time touching them. This extends mildly to other fruits with skin that you peel.

Here’s 6 fun people you should check out. I’m tagging…

Suzanne, Janell, Abigail, Angela, Jen, and Mara. Stop by their blogs and say “hi”.

We went sailing last weekend and actually had great weather while we were on the water. Woo hoo! I even got a lot of sun on my face.

This photo is of the Adventuress, a local tall ship that was sharing the dock with us in Eagle Harbor. We got to walk aboard and see the interior.

I got some yarn at Churchmouse Yarn & Tea and then some ribbon for our wedding cake. I won't be knitting anything else but this wedding stole for the next few months though.

Michelle came over tonight and we got all the wedding favors prepped. I just now ordered the candy to go in the favors. We chose French mints, green and blue, and Italian white chocolate candy hearts. It's fun to do this at a leisurely pace.

I got more plants for the yard and will be planting them soon. I know our yard is going to get better every year, it takes time to build up the foliage. We're thinking of planting bamboo along the back fence for a privacy screen, but it seems to run $35 per gallon for a plant, so I'm not sure what we'll do with that project. Rain barrels are also on the plan for the year.

The garden is planted. We are growing:

  • tomato (from seed)
  • turnip
  • zuchinni
  • carrot
  • italian parsley
  • broccoli
  • lettuce
  • red sunflowers

Last night Jesper got me a seed starter tray and a bunch of flower seeds. We'll try to get something started indoor and hopefully that will be more successful than planting flower seeds randomly.

I am so happy the tulips are blooming, I think I need to start picking them before the squirrel lops any more blooms off. Yesterday was so warm and wonderful, I got more sun on my face than during six days in Mexico. Who wears sunblock in their backyard in April?
I am about 5 rows past the half-way mark of my wedding stole. I think it might be about 10 feet long by the time I finish.
This weekend we are working in the yard, I decided to photograph the plant seed packets on the locations where I planted so I would have a record of what went where and so I don't plant in the same spot later. Here's a photo of violas I planted a year ago. They seem very happy in their home under our big fir tree.

I also made french bread from scratch and it turned out pretty nice. Today I am going to finish planting the garden and all the seeds I have.

We're back from Cancun and I am thrilled that today it's a blue sky, just like Mexico. Not as warm... but I didn't have to wear sunbock this morning.

I loved our hotel, and the water was gorgeous. We stayed three nights in Cancun, and two nights on Isla Mujeres.

Amy and Scot's wedding was beautiful and WINDY. Jesper and I had fun learning our new DSLR camera. I am so impressed at what can be recovered in Photoshop with the RAW format. My favorite adjustment is temperature control. I am half way through editing our Mexico photos.

When we got home Tuesday late night, we found that a large local cat had moved inside with Stella (via the cat door). She was not happy. The bathroom litter box was a disaster and there was poo and pee all over the floor. Luckily it's glazed tile and was able to be cleaned up without stains.

Last week I made this daily granola recipe from orangette and it's very tasty. It didn't harden up like I was expecting, maybe it needed to cook longer. It's really yummy with either milk or vanilla soymilk. The BEST part is, it's super healthy. I threw in some flax seeds since I saw they are on the list for most healthy foods you can eat and they are such tiny seeds, you don't even notice.
